Although downloading videos from video sharing sites may sound a little old-fashioned since now you can watch them directly from your smart TV, it is still useful because sometimes, the videos are deleted due to copyright or other issues. This is when a video downloader can come in handy.
Unfortunately, this is not the case with AV Tube. It has a simple and straightforward interface in which you only need to paste the URL of the video you want to download and let the program to analyze it to start downloading the video. This sounds good in theory, but in practice, things are very different. I tried to download many different videos from YouTube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, MetaCafe, and other sites to no avail. Every time I copied/pasted a URL in the program's interface, it showed an error message. I tried each and every site mentioned in the program's Supported sites list, and the only that worked was bofunk.com, which is not nearly as popular as YouTube and the other sites mentioned earlier. Also, many of the listed sites are now defunct. Thus, unless you want a video downloader that cheats you by claiming to be compatible with most video sharing sites, but that does not comply, you may better stay away from this program.
- It has a simple interface
- It only works on one site of the list of compatible sites
